Since our skin is the biggest organ that absorbs into
the body whatever is put on it, I encourage my customers to consider their health
in the long term and avoid potentially harmful ingredients in skincare products.
In my experience, there are many ingredients in mainstream
skincare products that may be harsh for the skin. You may be using mainstream
skincare products for years trying to address skin concerns not realising that
some ingredients, such as synthetic stabilisers, preservatives, parfums and
other texture and scent enhancing additives, may be upsetting the skin and aggravating
or actually causing skin issues.
Also, I completely understand the inclination
to use stronger products, such as retinoids, peels and acids to quickly address
skin concerns such as acne or aging. Such products may upset the natural
integrity of the skin’s barrier, resulting in unexpected skin issues such as breakouts,
sensitivity, dryness etc., that may be then difficult to address, especially
when it comes to sensitive skin.
I’m an
advocate of minimalist and natural skincare that is highly concentrated, yet
gentle and nourishing, focusing on restoring the skin’s natural healthy
balance, with minimum product dependence. So even when you struggle for time,
you know that you care for your skin in the very best possible way.
